Abstract
PURPOSE: To decrease the dielectric strength request of the driving circuit as well as to share the selective application circuit of the writing/erasion voltage to simplify the circuit constitution, by securing the driving through application of the maintenance voltage, the writing voltage and the erasion voltage to be applied to the thin film EL element from one and the other electrodes by 1/2 each.
CONSTITUTION: Maintenance driving circuit 20 which supplies the maintenance voltage to the X electrode is constituted by four switches S1∼S4, power source- VS/2 of 1/2 maintenance voltage and +VS/2 plus the earth potential. And maintenance driving circuit 30 for the Y electrode is composed of four switches S5∼S8, the similar two positive and negative power sources plus the earth potential. While write- erasion switching circuit 40 to supply both the writing voltage and the erasion voltage to the X electrode consists of power source -VW/2 of 1/2 writing voltage, power source -Ve/2 of 1/2 writing voltage, power souce -Ve of 1/2 erasion voltage plus switch S9 and S10 used for these power sources. Write-erasion switching circuit 70 for the Y electrode consists of power source +VW/2, +VW/2, plus switch S11 and S12.
