Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a centrifugal gas separator which can prevent the reduction of the peripheral speed of gas and secure the sufficient velocity conductance in the radial direction by bending a partition board in a rotating drum so as to approach a scoop tube near the inlet port at the tip of the scoop tube.
CONSTITUTION: When a rotating drum 5 is rotated at an ultra high speed, the atmosphere outside the rotating drum is kept at low pressure by a molecular pump 29. The gases to be separated that are introduced into a feed pipe 26 are next introduced into a rotating drum 5 through a discharge port 28 and are circulated as the arrows show. While circulated, heavier gas constituents gather near the inner surface of a cylinder 6 and lighter gas constituents gather inside the former. Heavier gas constituents are discharged through the holes 13 of a lower partition board 12 to a heavier gas collecting chamber 11 and next through a scoop tube 24 to outside. As the partition board is arranged near the intake at the tip of the scoop tube, the peripheral speed of gases near the intake is lower than that of the partition board only a little.
