Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable application of reverse bias voltage to thyristor always as required regardless of the load variations by applying the gate reverse bias voltage at timing when the thyristor anode becomes zero.
CONSTITUTION: The gate trigger current Ig of a thyristor 32 turns off itself to allow the voltage VL of a resonance inductance 35 to become zero when it is changed from negative to positive at zero voltage crossing time. Reverse bias boltage is applied between the gate and the cathode when the anode current of the thyristor becomes zero to cause the voltage VF to cross the zero voltage. In such a gate trigger type, the applying timing of the gate reverse bias can be set regardless of the load variation.
