Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the friction of a tape guide to a magnetic tape by equipped the guide of the magnetic tape with bias means to eliminate the tracking error and by vibrating the bias means in high frequency. CONSTITUTION:Positioning means 13 for positioning a tape 1 is arranged in plural positions of a drum 11 of fixed or lower side, preferably, in the vicinity of the inlet, outlet and intermediate positions of the drums 10 and 11 for a tape 1. The positioning means 13 is vibrated in high frequency by vibrating means 14. More specifically, an attachment arm 14 is fixed to the lower drum 11, and a guide acing as the means 14 is attached to the uper end thereof, thus constituting the positioning means 13. The means 14, i.e., the guide uses a bimorph plate which is vibrated by the use of a high frequency signal source. Moreover, the tracking error signals of a reproducing head are detected so that the guide 14 is biased a preset distance in accordance with the signals detected.
