PURPOSE: To improve the display effect of liquid crystal matrix display and enhance the efficiency of circuit by changing the electrode arrangement and display data scanning with respect to liquid crystal display body.
CONSTITUTION: In a liquid crystal matrix, for instance, when displaying numerals 0 to 9 with 5 × 7 dots, unnecessary dots or dot groups displaying the same meaning are rearranged into arrays of electrodes which provide a display of 2 lines (2 rows) with 1 line (1 row). Thus, the matrix composition seen from the electrodes is 4 × 5, but practically the same display as 5 × 7 can be obtained. Further, by properly wiring the electrodes on the poopsing sides across the liquid crystal, exactly the same display as 5 × 7 dots can be obtained. By connecting such electrodes in the vertical and lateral directions, multi-digit, multi- line displays are possible, and the matrix composition in the actual circuit is 4 × 5 while the apparent display effect is 5 × 7.
