Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the resolution without lowering the sensitivity by deciding the output form of plural output picture elements corresponding to one reading picture element in accordance with the information forms of plural reading picture elements which overlaps partially one reading picture element.
CONSTITUTION: The picture reading device in the facsimile contains sensors S11, S12, S21 and S22 in addition to main sensor SO and reads out one picture element pluse four picture elements devided from the said one picture element. Thus, the picture signal sent from sensor S0 is quantized (8) to quinary, and the output signal shows five levels via sensor S0 according to the density of the reading element. While the picture signals given from sensors S11∼S22 are quantized (9) to binary with form decision 10 and then sent to comparison logic decision circuit 11 with decision of the output form through combination with the circuit output to be transmitted after modulation 12. At the reception side, the reception signal is demodulated, and the picture is delivered with four picture elements put into one set. In such way, the resolution can be enhanced without lowering the sensitivity
