Abstract

PURPOSE: To bring the gear groups of a turning mechanism into smooth and reliable meshing engagement by operating the turning mechanism in accordance with the operations of a clutch which is driven by an air cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: A clutch 3 is mounted through a reduction mechanism 2 in an electric motor 1 so that its application and release is effected through an operating lever 4 by an air cylinder 5. By the operations of the clutch 3, the gear groups of a turning mechanism 6 are brought into suitable meshing engagement. With the use of the turning mechanism 6, if the operatiosn of the air cylinder 5 are transmitted to the clutch 3, the ends of the shafts of a turning electric motor 7 and the reduction mechanism 2 are jointed, and the piston of a toggle cylinder 25 is operated so that a rocking lever 20 approaches a turbine rotor 16. As a result, gears 14 and 15 are brought into gradual and smooth contact so that they are brought into reliable engagement by the slow rotations of the motor 1. After this engagement, the clutch 3 is released so that the operations are carried out by the action of the motor 7
