Abstract
PURPOSE: To couple a pair of pipes watertight and flexible.
CONSTITUTION: When a pair of pipes 1a, 1b are bent lower with regard to a coupl- ing pipe 2, the upper half of packings 4 between the pipes 1a, 1b and the coupling pipe 2 are compressed belowed the initial level of compression, while the lower half deformed above the initial level, keeping the coupling strictly watertight, and idle rings 5 fitted outside the ends of the pipes 1a, 1b are movable together with the pipes and the outer spherical surfaces 6 are easily movable along with the spherical surfaces 16 of rings 11. When the pipes 1a, 1b are bent higher with regard to the coupling pipe 2 on the contrary, the upper half of the packings 4 are deformed more than the initial compression and the watertightness is kept unchanged even if the compression of the lower hald is reduced, and the idle rings 5 are easily movable together with the pipes 1a, 1b along the spherical surfaces 16 of the fixed rings 11
