Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a means to form a thin film of air and cuuse gears to engage non-contactedly by supplying a compressed air only between the teeth being engaged for suppressing the wear and vibration between gears engaged locally.
CONSTITUTION: In a worm transmission systerm, for example, consisting of worm 1 and a worm wheel 2 engaging thereto, air injection passages 9 are formed in respective tooth parts 8 of the worm wheel 2, said air injection passages 9 being connected to air injection ports 12 opening at tooth surfaces 11 engaged with tooth parts 10 of the worm 1 while extending to boss 14 of the worm sheel 2 and opening at its external surface 15 to be connected to an air supply passage 17 of an air supply port 16 whereby said air injection passages 9 are connected to connection ports 18 of the air supply passage 17 only when respective tooth parts 8 and 10 engage causing a compressed air to blow from the injection ports 12 forming a flim of air in a gap 13 between tooth parts 8 and 10 for achieving desired purpose
