Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the title device by which the production of defective pellets is reduced and operation control and process control are easily conducted, comprising a means for detecting the molten strands, placed just below the die openings for extruding molten strands and parallel to the row of the die openings. CONSTITUTION:A number of parallelly arranged molten strands S are extruded through a row of die openings 2, solidified on a chute 4 placed below said die openings 2, and taken up by a take-up device 18. A detecting device 24 for the molten strands S is securedly mounted to a frame 27 of the cooling and take-up device 3 between said die openings 2 and said cooling device 3, parallel to the row of the die openings 2. When one of the strands breaks, the light beam emitted from the light source 25 of the detecting device 24 is intercepted by the broken strand, and alarming signal is transmitted from the light receptor 26 of the detecting device 24.
