Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect smoke at high sensitivity with scarce effects of temperature by feeding back part of output of amplifier to detect the change of impedance due to smoke into an ion chamber for measurement and keeping the ion chamber at a certain voltage.
CONSTITUTION: In a reference ion chamber Ac which does not permit invasion of smoke, and an ion chamber for measurement Bc which pemits free invasion of smoke, electrodes 4, 5 coated with radioactive substance 3 are respectively provided opposite to electrodes 1, 2. The electrodes in chambers Ac, Bc are connected in series to applied power sources L1, L2. But chamber Bc is not directly connected to power source L2, but is connected, together with switch 7, to a middle point 9 of series circuit of resistor R having one end connected to power source L2 and Zener diode ZD having one end connected to the source of FET 8. The connection point 6 chambers Ac and Bc is connected to the gate of FET 8. In this setting, due to the output of FET 8 when smoke invades, the smoke is detected by the switch part 7 which short-circuits the power sources L1 and L2 at a low impedance
