Abstract

PURPOSE: Lubricating oil consumed by an internal combustionen gine is measured for a short period and with high accuracy under the state an engine is loaded by estimating sulfurous acid gas or sulfur dioxide in fixed weak gas exhaust.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel tank 1 involves toluene for example of the matter free from sulphur compositin. An internal combustion 2 is supplied with lubricating oil including over 0.5% in weight sulphur to run. After the exhaust gas is mixed with weak air 5 in a mixer 7, part of the mixture is led to a sulfurous acid gas absorbing liquid 9 through a collecting tube 8 heated over 40° and the other mixture of exhaust gas is led to sulfurous acid gas absorbing liquid 14 through a collecting tube 13. The sulfurous acid in an integrating flow meter 12 and the absorbing liquid 9 is analyzed to find average sulfurous acid gas density in weak exhaust and the sulfurous acid in an integrating flow meter 17 and the absorbing liquid 9 is analyzed to find average sulfurous acid gas density in weak air. The consumed lubricating oil amount can be calcurated from those results
