Abstract

PURPOSE: A composition for bonding, molding, and coating, capable of giving cured articles having improved shear, compressive, bending, and tensile strength, comprising (A) a specific phenol derivative obtained from a phenol and a straight-chain conjugted diolefin and (B) an epoxy resin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An epoxy resin is incorporated with (B) a phenol derivative, which has a hydroxyl number of 30W200 and a viscosity at 25°C of 10W100,000 CP, and is obtained by reacting a one mole of a phenol with preferably 1W5 moles of a straight-chain conjugated diolefin, e.gl isoprene, etc. in the presence of a Friedel- Crafts catalyst, to give the objective composition. The weight ratio of (A) to (B) is 95W60:5W40.
