Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an automatic ring forging apparatus which enables production of large diameter ring without restriction by the ingot diameter in the combination of a stud free to move in and out vertically with respect to a ring-like ingot inserting space, a cross head for support the anvil movably in the vertical way and an intermitent rotation device.
CONSTITUTION: With moving in and out of a cylinder device, the front of an ingot insertion space on a frame 1 is released lifting the overall length of a stub 10 into a guide frame. Then, a ring-like ingot is carried in and placed on a turning roller 23 and loosely rotating roller 24A,24B, 25A and 25B. With a moving cylinder, the ingot is forced into the insertion space and a stud 10 is erected in the ingot. Thereafter, a cross head 38 equipped with an anvil 46 free to move vertically advances to push the ingot against the stud for forging. After the end of one cycle of forging, the cross head is returned to the original position, and the turning roller 23 is turned by one pitch to rotate the ingot. In this manner, forging is repeated.
