Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress the accumulation of toner films on the surfaces of carrier particles for electrostatic latent image developing to provide desired friction charge characteristics to the carrier particles and improve durability by processing the material with a specific aromatic acid derivative.
CONSTITUTION: Particles such as of sand or goass of about 50 to 100μ (preferably 100 to 500μ) in mean particale size are treated with an aromatic acid derivative such as p-nitro benzoic acid or p-fluoro benzoic acid shown by general formula (R1 is intro, nitrile, halogen, acyl, H; R2 is hydroxyl group, akdoxy, alkyl, amino; n is 1 to 5; m is 1 to 2) to be covered with the abovementioned compound at about 0.1 to 0.5wt%, whereby the carrier material is provided.
