Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable abnormality to be detected promptly and surely by recording number information corresponding to the generation sequence of sector cloks in the region where the sector clcoks of clock track generates and comparing the number information and the contents of a clock counter.
CONSTITUTION: The index sector signal (a) having been read out with a clock head 4 and gone through an amplifier 6 is made to the respective clcok (b), (c) of index and sector by respective discrimination circuits 7, 8 for index and sector. These are used for the initialize and clock pulses respectively of a sector counter 9. The contents of the counter 9 are subsequently renewed by the clocks (c) incoming after the clocks (b) and the contents 11 thereof and the contents of the signal (a) are compared with a comparing coincidence circuit 10. When no coincidence is taken, an abnormality detection signal 12 is generated to announce the occurrence of malfuncition in other control circuits. Thereby, the abnormality of the sector clocks may be detected promptly and surely.
