Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate polyvinyl chloride through effective crosslinking of its waste by heat treatment of the polyvinyl chloride resin waste with a hydrosulfide and a hydrochloric acid catcher.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by wt. of polyvinyl chloride (waste) is incorporated with (1) 2W10 parts by wt. of an alkali metal hydrosulfide or 1/2 mole of an alkaline earth metal hydrosulfide per mole of the alkali metal hydrosulfide, (2) 1W7 parts by wt. of a hydrochloric acid catcher and, if required, (3) 2W10 parts by wt. of cyanuric chloride followed by kneading the mixture to carry out forming. The resulting formed product is subjected to heat treatment preferably under pressures at 120W190°C for 5minW2hr in order to accomplish crosslinking rotation. The crosslinking is more effective than that mentioned above for improving the strength of polyvinyl chloride reinforced with iron powder or glass fiber.
