Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an arrangement for grasping apparatus, in which the entire unit of the grasping apparatus is moved by a single driving means, and an object is grasped securely on a reference surface of one grasping plate, whereby its control circuit can be simplified and the object to be grasped can be protected from damages.
CONSTITUTION: In graspinf an object, force of driving source 3 such as cylinder is transmitted from cam rollers 11, 12 via cam 16 to guide plates 7, 8 and slide plate 5. Since the slide plate 5 is moved until its stopper 6 comes into abutment with base plae 1, the entire unit of the grasping apparatus is moved to the position of the object 18 to be grasped while grasping plates 9 and 10 are kept open. With further movement of cam 16, guide plates 7, 8 are kept at the position by the function of stopper 6, but cam 16 comes into the gap between rollers 11 and 12. Thus, grasping plate 9 is turned to the reference surface defined by stopper 14 while the other grasping plate 10 is turned in clockwise direction, whereby object 18 can be grasped firmly by grasping pawl 15
