Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent accidents, by detecting the damage of fuel by enclosing a detecting fluid to a hollow plenum portion of a wire spacer and by discharging the fluid into a coolant when a surface of a suel pin exceeds fixed temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A wire spacer 2 is wound on a fuel pin 1. A portion, which corresponds to a reactor core, of the fuel pin 1 of the wire spacer 2 is used as a hollow plenum portion 3, and a detecting fluid 4 is enclosed into the plenum portion 3. When the temperature of a surface of the fuel pin 1 reaches not less than fixed value, a wall surface of the plenum 3 is torn, and the detecting fluid 4 is discharged into a coolant. Accidents can beforehand be prevented by detecting abnormal phenomena in a fuel aggregate by detecting the coolant containing the tracer.
