Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for manual operation and perform automatic playing of a record simply by placing the record disc on a turntable by providing a start mechanism and record size detecting mechanism or the like on the back of the turntable. CONSTITUTION:When, e.g., an EP record disc 31, is placed on a turntable 1, only the start detecting pin 5 is pushed downward, causing a start switch 8 to go ON to run a motor 25. At the same time, a start solenoid 35 is energized, causing a pickup arm 13 to ascend. Here, a driving solenoid 45 is energized and since a record size detecting switch 12 is OFF, the pickup arm 13 turns to the lead-in position of the EP record disc 31 and descends to start playing. At the same time, the number of revolutions of the turntable 1 is changed over to the specified number of revolutions. In this way, the record disc may be automatically played in the absence of touch simply by placing the same on the turntable.
