Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent contamination in bulb by hardening the adhesive flushing inside thereof with gas followed by flashing with a foaming gas energizing the filament when the lens thereof and a reflector are bonded together with a resin adhesive.
CONSTITUTION: In a shield beam type electric bulb, a lens 1 and a reflector 2 are bonded together with an epoxy regin adhesive 13. Then, the bulb is placed into a heating furnace at about 200°C where a foaming gas, a mixture of N2 and H2, from a foaming gas cylinder is fed through a gas feed tubule 10 inserted into an exhaust tube 8. Admitted into the bulb, the mixed gas flushes the inside thereof and then, released through a clearance in the exhaust tube 8. As it is kept in the heating furnaces 16 for 10 to 20 minutes, the epoxy resin adhesive 3 will be hardened by heat. After the withdrawal from the furnace, it is lighted energizing the W filament. the inside thereof is heated at a high temperature with the highly heat conductive foaming gas. Several minutes following the degassing, the lighting is stopped, and Ar gas is delivered thereinto from a sealed gas cylinder 14 for reduction with the foaming gas. Thereafter, the exhaust tube is sealed up.
