Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce A-type zeolite in an industrially advantageous manner while considering the water balance of the total process by recirculating mother liquor from reaction of anhydrous sodium silicate dissolved in a caustic soda soln. and sodium aluminate dissolved in a caustic soda soln., to prevent environmental pollution due to discharge of mother liquor,
CONSTITUTION: Sodium silicate glass with a molar ratio of SiO2/Na2O=2.1W3.6 is coarsely crushed or pulverized. The resulting anhydrous sodium silicate glass is heat-dissolved in an aq. soln. of NaOH, and the residue is removed by filtration. On the other hand, sodium aluminate is heat-dissolved in an aq. soln. of NaOH, and the residue is removed by filtration. Both of the solns. are then heat-reacted with stirring so that a product A-type zeolite has a molar ratio of SiO2/Al2O3=1.85± 0.5. The NaOH concn. of the reaction mother liquor is regulated to above 5, esp. 8W20 wt%. A-type zeolite deposited from the mother liquor is separation-recovered, and mother liquor free from alumina and silica is divided into two parts and recycled to the sodium silicate soln. and sodium aluminate soln. preparing processes.
