Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare 8C olefins in high yield, by the dimerization of a 4C fraction containing isobutene, n-butene and butanes in the presence of a mixed catalyst comprising a Ni-compound of a specific, easily available, low-cost organic acid, an organic acid, and an alumimum compound.
CONSTITUTION: butenes containing 5W55% of isobutene are dimerized at ≥45°C in liquid phase under pressure, in the presence of a mixed catalyst comprising (A) a mixture of a Ni-compound I (n0, n1 are parts by weight, 0.02<n1/n0<0.6; R is 10W15C alkyl) and an organic acid, and (B) an aluminum compound II (n is 2, 3; R' is alkyl). The amount of the compound II is 0.12W0.30 wt.% based on the butenes, and the atomic ratio of Al to Ni in the catalytic system is 10W18 : 1. The amount of the organic acid in the mixture (A) is 35W40% based on the Ni compound.
