Abstract
PURPOSE: The title composition capable of giving molded articles having improved mechanical properties, heat resistance, dimensional stability, heat insulating and soundproofing properties, with excellent foaming property and moldability, comprising glass fibers, a blowing agent, and a specific thermoplastic polyurethane.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 parts by wt. of a thermoplastic polyurethane obtained from (a) a low-molecular weight polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) having terminal active hydrogen atoms of hydroxyl groups and a poly functional isocyanate (I) at a ratio between the functional groups of PBT and I of 1:1, and, if necessary, 10 wt.% or less based on the PBT of a chain extender, is incorporated with (B) 5W 150 parts by wt. of glass fibers having a diameter of 0.005W0.02mm and a length of 0.01W10mm treated with a vinyl-silane, and (C) 0.01W5 parts by wt. of a blowing agent, e.g. azodicarbonamide.
EFFECT: Control of expansion ratio and deterioration of strength by foaming are possible with the retained properties of the PBT base resin.
