Abstract

PURPOSE: To aerodynamically generate the spacing between a magnetic head and a magnetic disc satisfactorily and stably with the use of a simple construction by integrally turning a disk and a fan with the use of a rotary shaft which is made axially movable within a sealed case.
CONSTITUTION: The rotary shafts 10 and 5 of a motor 9 are connected to a torque transmitting mechanism, which is axially movable, such that the shaft 5 is made axially movable. As a result, when the motor 9 is driven, the disk 3 and fan 14 fixed to the shaft 5 are integrally turned within a sealed case 1 so that the disk 3 is made to float together with the shaft 5 by the sucked air flow having passed through air vent holes 17 and 17. As a result, the upper surface of the disk 3 approaches a magnetic head 12 so that a small air clearance is formed satisfactorily and stably by a pneumatic dynamic bearing. On the other hand, the disk 3, which is cooled together with the motor 9 by the air flow established by the fun 14 is not warped by the heat.
