Abstract

PURPOSE: Heat exchanger having passage for heating medium between facing plates are economically produced by simple equipment by use of process such that adhesive is placed between plates, the plate is temporarily fixed while the adhesive is movable, the plates are applied with paint, and paint drying and adhesive curing are simultaneously performed.
CONSTITUTION: Steel plate 1, 1' are pressed into a desired elevation and depression 2' to form medium flowing passage. The surface of the steel plates 1,1' is cleaned with trichloroethylene, dried, and applied on their contact area with uniform layer of structure adhesive 4 having low volatility, such as epoxy, urethane, polyester adhesive including adequate curing agent and filler. While the adhesive 4 is still flowing, the steel plates 1,1' are temporarily fixed by seam working or spot welding at several places on the plate periphery. Then the steel plates 1.1' are painted and paint drying and adhesive curing are simultaneously performed.
