Abstract
PURPOSE: The cold-setting title composition suitable for metal coating, having low toxicity, capable of forming a film having improved corrosion resistance and rust prevention, comprising a modified fatty acid amide derivative of a polyamine as a curing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A) A water dispersion of epoxy resin having two or more epoxy groups in a molecule, preferably an epoxy equivalent of 170W300, is blended with B) a condensation product obtained from a) one acid equivalent of a reaction product of a1) one or more α, β-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivatives or their lower alkyl esters shown by the formulae I, II, III, and IV (R is H, CH3, or C6H5; Y is COOH or COOR'; R' is lower alkyl) with a2) a drying or a semidrying fatty acid and b) 0.1W1.5 mole of a mixed amine of hexamethylenediamine and polyalkylenepolyamine, having an amine value of 350W890, in a blending ratio of epoxy group in A) to active amine hydrogen in B of about 1, preferably 0.8W1.2.
