Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the humidity permeation and the latent heat exchange capa- bility, by making an exchange element of a porous film which is a water-insoluble organic high-molecular substance having a gas permeation degree not less than a prescribed value.
CONSTITUTION: The porous film having a thickness of 500μ or less and a gas permeation degree of 100/100 sec/cc is made of the water-insoluble organic high- molecular substance such as polyethylen or polypropylen which can be washed in water. The porous film is made flat or tubular depending on the type of an overall heat exchanger or the method of heat exchange. If the porous film is made flat, a plurality of such films are overlapped with supports or the like at an appropriate spacing to form the heat exchange element. Sensible heat and latent heat can thus be efficiently exchanged. The permeability of the heat exchange element for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, etc. is low. The heat exchange efficiency of the element is at least 10 % higher than that of conventional one.
