Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a fuel rod from damage by reducing linear heat rating thereof positioned facing the control rod by means of a plurality of through holes provided near the sheath mounting position of the strut.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of through holes 10 are arranged on a central rod 9 for mounting a sheath 4 of a control rod 8 near the mounting position in the axial direction of the rod. The through holes serves to reduce the linear heat rating of a fuel rod 7 facing the control rod 8 when it is withdrawn, thereby protecting thereof from damage.
