Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide artificial water moss having prominent characteristics to cope with the natural one and a method for manufacturing the same.
CONSTITUTION: Artificial water moss comprising a fiber congregation containing at least 50% wt. of artificial short fibers having a size of fiber of signal yarm of 7 to 50 deniers which includes 50% wt. or more of water with respect to the weight of the short fibers after the centrifugal dehydration is carried out for two minutes at 1,500 r.p.m. A fiber formative polymer solution of 5% wt. is subject to the spinning-out process in this solution, and then the solidification and cutting processes to form short fibers having a size of fiber of single yarm of 7 to 50 deniers which includes 50% wt. or more water with respect to the weight of the short fibers after the centrifugal dehydration is carried for two minutes at 1,500 r.p.m. Next, a fiber congregation containing at least 50% wt. of the short fibers thus formed is formed, from which artificial water moss is manufactured. In it determined that the length of the artificial short fiber is within 5mm to 200mm and that 60% wt. or more of the artificial short fiber has a roll contraction ratio of 3 to 15 pieces/mm. Further, a number of voids exist in the vicinity of the surface of the artificial short fiber with a part thereof opening on the surface. This artificial short fiber is made of a polymer of acrylic system.
