Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart durable antistatic property to a plastic substrate, without causing blocking and whitening or damaging transparency, by applying a specific epoxy compound to the surface of a plastic, and polymerizing the compound with actinic radiation.
CONSTITUTION: A synthetic resin substrate (e.g. polyolefin, vinyl polymer, polyester resin, etc.) is coated with an aliphatic and/or alicyclic epoxy compound (pref. 2W8C polyol glycidyl ether, e,g, butanediol diglycidyl ether, etc., and the weigth ratio of the aliphatic compound to the alicyclic compound of pref. 1 to 1W5) containing a compound which generates a polymerizatin intiation catalyst of the epoxy compound by UV-irradiation, etc. (pref. Lewis acid-generating onium salt), pref. to a thickness of 1W5 μ. The applied epoxy compound is polymerized by UV- irradiation.
