Abstract

PURPOSE: To correct the nonlinearity of radiation detector accurately, by calculating and storing the quantity of correction from the average value of position signals, and correcting the error upon even scintillation.
CONSTITUTION: The output of a point radiation source 7a located at a certain measuring point is electrically converted by a radiation detector, and position signals XS, YS are generated in a position computer 4. These signals are inputted into an averaging circuit 9 to calculate, for instance, an average of 1000 times, which is A-D converted to be stored in a memory 12. From the stored content in the memory 12, the quantity of correction at each measuring position is computed in a computer 13 and is stored in a memory 14. The quantity of correction at the positions corresponding to the position signals XS, YS inputted into a correction circuit 15 at the time of measurement is read out from the memory 14 to perform correction. Thus, the nonlinearity of the radiation detector may be accurately corrected without using large capacity memories.
