Abstract

PURPOSE: To cause the ultrasonic flaw detector to follow up the material being inspected at high precision, by rotatably mounting the link-connected guide rollers, detectors, and energizing means around the longer axis and parallel axis of the material being inspected.
CONSTITUTION: Energizing means 28, 28, guide rollers 22, 23, ultrasonic flow detector 21 which are coupled together by means of four links 29 equal in length are permitted to rotate freely around a shaft 32 which is parallel to the longer axis of the material being inspedted 25 as being restricted of oscillation by springs 26, 26. Due to this rotation, the detector 21 smoothly follows up the material being inspected 25 to maintain the specified relative positions, by responding to the vertical oscillations of the material being inspected 25 which moves in the axial direction by the means 28, 28 and rollers 22, 23 and to the lateral direction oscillations by turning around the shaft 32, so that high precision ultrasonic flaw detection may be realized.
