PURPOSE:To prevent stopping of the watch occuring in unknowing of charging condition and give a measure for the charging condition by displaying that a secondary battery is being charged with solar batteries with the display body of the watch in the electronic watch which has the secondary battery charged with the slolar batteries. CONSTITUTION:With a secondary battery 2 charged by solar batteries 1as a power source, a watch operating circuit 3 operates to drive a display body 4. In the above- mentioned appratus similar to conventional ones, the potential difference between the solar batteries 1 and secondary battery 2 is detected with a detecting circuit 7 and the watch operating circuit 8 is actuated to announce the charging condition with the mark 4a of the display body 4 while the secondary battery 2 is being charged with the solar batteries 1. This enables the chargeable condition to be known at a glance during carriying and since the wearer also uses care so as to carry the watch in the chargeable state, the shortage of charging may be eliminated.
