PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of mixed colors and yellow staining of low density portions and obtain a photosensitive material which can form an excellent dye image by using the specific active point substitution type magenta coupler and the specific hydroquinone compound through combination. CONSTITUTION:The 2 equivalent magenta coupler which is obtained through enolization of the 5th position of pyrazolone being the mother nucleus of convent- ional 4-equivalent magenta coupler and has a group being capable of eliminating by making coupling reaction with aromatic primary amine color forming developing oxidant in the 4th position of pyrazole ring is contained in a silver halide emulsion layer and hydroquinone derivative having C8 or more substituents, e.g., 2-(1- methyo octyl) hydroquinone is contained at about 0.01 to 10moles (preferable 0.02 to 2 moles) to 1 mole of the abovementioned 2-equivalent magenta coupler in the non-photosensitive hydrophilic colloid layer adjoining thereto, whereby the photosensitive material is formed.
