Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve reducible and pulverizable property of sintered ore in sintering of iron ore, by decreasing oxygen content of air to be fed to a portion of ore- discharge side of a sintering machine to 18% or less.
CONSTITUTION: In sintering powdered iron ore by Dwight-Lloyd sintering machine, oxygen content of air C fed to 1/3 portion of whole sintering stage at ore-discharge side is decreased to 18% or less. To this purpose, the upper side of the sintering layer is covered with a hood 7, and the air is mixed with waste gas discharged from a hot stove so as to make the oxygen content of the mixed gas decrease to 18% or less, and to utilize the wast heat of the hot stove waste gas. Control of the oxygen content prevents the oxidation of the magnetite contained in the sintered ore to hematite, thus increasing reducibility of the sintered ore.
