Abstract

PURPOSE:For an efficient concentration of the solution to a high concentration within a specified range of operational pressure without lossing solute, the original solution is concentrated first by using a back osmosis membrane having high exclusion ratio, second by using a back osmosis membrane having low exclusion ratio. CONSTITUTION:An original solution 3 is sent by pressure 4 into the first back osmosis module 2 having a high exclusion ratio back osmosis membrane. The dialyzed solution 5 is extracted from the module 2 and the concentrated solution 6 is pressured up 7 and sent into the second back osmosis module 9 having a low exclusion ratio back osomosis membrane 8. The high concentrate 10 is extracted from the module 9 and the dialyzed solution is drawn through the pipe 11. When the recovery is important as well as the concentration, the second dialyzed solution 11 is mixed with the original solution 3 and cycled to the first module 2.
