Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the enlargement of the capacity of apparatus and also to keep better heat exchange between N2 gas and liquid O2 at all times in the major condenser by adopting coil type heat exchangers arranged in a multiple stage as the major condenser to be provided between the upper and lower towers of double rectifier. CONSTITUTION:The N2 gas of the lower tower 2, which is to be condensed at super cold temperature, is made to go up in an ascending pipe 6 connected to the core metal of the heating coil 4 in heat exchanger groups in each stage. Then, the N2 gas is flowed from the upper part of the tube 6 to the upper part of the coil 4 at each stage, then flowed down outside of the coil 4 to condense it by heat exchange with the liquid N2 inside the tube, and stored on a bottom plate 5. Then, the liquefied N2 is flowed into a liquid-flowing base tube 14 and then flowed down as circulating liquid for the tower 2, while liquid O2 from the upper tower 1 is flowed through the cover 12 to an upper stage liquid storager 11, where part of liquid O2 is remains and the other part is kept in the lower stage liquid storager 11a through the overflow hole 17 and the overflow tube 16 on the outside periphery of the liquid storager 11. The stayed liquid 11 is flowed down to the coil 4 from the lower side, evaporized by heat exchange with N2 gas outside the tube, and then sent back to the tower 1 by air bubble pumping action.
