Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the soundness of fuel by leveling the direction power distribution of fuel assembly and reducing the line power density which causes the limitation of reactor operation.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel assembly is configured by binding a plurality of fuel rods 1 with spacer 2 and by inserting the fuel flux which is fixed with top and bottom plates 3 and 4 into channel box 5. Several of fuel rods composing fuel assembly contain Gd2O3. Also there is water rod containing water in place of nuclear fuel material. Fuel rod containing Gd2O3 satisfies the conditions of fissible amount of top of fuel rod > fissible material of top of fuel rod > fillile mass of bottom of fuel rod, Gd2O3 amount of top of fuel rod < amount of Gd2O3 of bottom of fuel rod.
