Abstract
PURPOSE: To make possible the efficient titled thread rolling for a screw without necessity of long hours like as the conventional method, at the thread rolling of a complexed shape, by treating with the free thread rolling roller dies consisting of multi-process.
CONSTITUTION: The required number of teeth are indexed on the outer surface of the blank by the first process dies, and the lead groove is formed; after that, the required product profile is generated by the second process dies. When the number of teeth of the product is taken as (n), similarly its pitch circle radius as rp, the number of teeth of the second process roller dies as N, and its pitch circle radius as kp, the number of teeth N is determined by the formula (RP/N2≈rp/n), in which RP is selected from the specified range. Next, the profile of each of the second process roller dies and the first process roller dies (including the determination of number of teeth), is successively determined depending on the separate formula and procedure. In the second process, required times of process are repeated by plural sets of roller dies, and the profile of the product is formed. According to this method, the titled screw can be more simply and efficiently thread rolled as compared with the conventional method of cutting work.
