Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the corrosion of the pipe constituting metals by giving the electric current from outside on the pipes, the anode of austenite stainless steel and the cathode of nickel alloy.
CONSTITUTION: The nickel alloy electrode 2 is provided in the washing fluid 3 containing about 10% sulfuric acid which flows in the austenite stainless steel pipe of the exhaust gas desulfurizing plant. When the electric current of 100 μA per 1 cm2 electrode 2 is supplied to the anode made of austenite stainless steel pipe 1 and the cathode of nickel alloy electrode 2, the electric potential of the electrode 2 becomes about -0.5 V, and no trace of corrosion was found after 500 hours. On the other hand, the electric potential of the pipe 1 is about 0.2 V which is held well inside the passive state range.
