PURPOSE: To avoid flicker on picture during the replacement of picture, by alternately reading out the video signal equivalent to one horizontal scanning period from two field memories in the transmission of video signal between transmission and reception.
CONSTITUTION: The video signal stored in an even and odd number of field memorises 7a and 7b (picture memory) of the transmission and reception unit is read out alternately for one horizontal scanning period based on the readout address designation register 9, is transmitted to the transmission path 13 via the data selector 8, parallel serial converter 11, and MODEM 12, and it is alternately written in an even and odd number memory of the receiver. Since the system like this is adopted, when the received picture is newly rewritten, the rewrite progresses simultaneously for the both even and odd fields. For example, an alphabet A is rewritten into B, then rewrite is made sequentially from the upper part of screen (state 40). Different from conventional methods, no flicker is caused on picture as conventional cases (state 50) and stable picture can be obtained during rewrite.
