Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to extract an electromotive force, even if solar cell units are partially shielded, by short-circuiting the solar cell which is shielded by the hand of a photographer during photography so that it is rendered inoperative.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage level difference corresponding to the electromotive force of a solar cell is impressed between the two input terminals of comparator circuits 27 to 32 which are connected in parallel with the solar cells 21 to 26 connected in series. If, in this instance, the incident light upon the unit 24 is shielded so that the electromotive force of the unit 24 is lowered, the potential difference between the two terminals of that unit is reduced to substantial zero so that the output of the comparator circuit 30 is reduced to a lower level. Thus, a transistor 36 is rendered conductive so that the solar cell 24 is short-circuited through the emitter and collector of the transistor. As a result, the current to be generated by the remaining solar cells flows through the transistor 36 so that the secondary battey can be charged.
