Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a material transporting apparatus, which is provided with a transport passage in which material to be transported is dropped at a high speed and a spiral transport passage formed around said former transport passage and these two passages are used selectively, whereby it is enabled to transport a plurality of different kinds of material smoothly downward, without causing damages to the same.
CONSTITUTION: Chute 5 is fixed helically around a hollow cylindrical tube 4 which is extended vertically. A damper plate 6 is provided at the junction where inlet A of chute 5 and inlet B of cylindrical tube 4 are divided from each other, in the manner that it can be turned about shaft 9 to positions where it is supported respectively by stoppers 7 and 8. In case of handling lumps of coal 2a having relatively large sizes, damper plate 6 is used at its position where it is supported by stopper 7, whereby lumps of coal 2a are slided along the slope of switching damper plate 6 and dropped into inlet A of chute 5. In case of granular coal 2b, on the other hand, damper plate 6 is turned to the position where it is supported by another stopper 8, whereby granular coal is dropped into the hollow cylindrical tube 4 at a high speed.
