Abstract

PURPOSE:To establish a sound field similar to the actual one by composing binoral signals from the signals, which are located in a preset position and delaued in dependence upon where a sound image is located in any of a divided plane, and by generating the binoral signals. CONSTITUTION:Signals having no locating information are converted into binoral signals to establish a sound field similar to the actual one. The sound field is divided, while using a listener 41 as an origin, into four guadrants LF, LB, RE and RB corresponding to the left front and rear and the right front and rear of the origin. If, for example, a sound image S0 is located in the quadrant LF, signals having no locating information are fed to an LF quadrant delay circuit 44 by the change-over of a switch S1. On the other hand, the signals having no locating information are supplied with the desired locating information from a signal converter 43 and then are fed to composing and converting circuit 48 to 51 and are composed with the signals from the delay circuit 44 so that they are generated as binoral signals.
