Abstract
PURPOSE: An easily applicable heat-fusing type paint for coating roads that is prepared by adding a hydrocarbon wax bearing carboxyl groups introduced by copolymerization to a heat-fusing type paint containing a resin binder, pigments, aggregate and others, thus improving the separation of the aggregate by sedimentation.
CONSTITUTION: To a heat-fusible paint for coating roads containing a resin binder, pigments, aggregate and others are incorporated 0.01 W 20 parts by wt, per 100 parts of the resin binder, of a hydrocarbon wax bearing carboxyl groups that is prepared by copolymerization of unsaturated carboxylic acids or their anhydrides and has a number-average molecular weight of 500 W 10,000 and a product of the acid value and the number average molecular weight of more than 40,000. The hydrocarbon wax bearing carboxyl groups is prepared by grafting an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride onto a hydrocarbon wax or by conducting radical polymerization of a mixture containing ethylene or an α-olefin and an unsaturated carboxylic acid or ots anhydride in the presence of a chain transfering agent under 100 W 1000 atmospheric pressure.
