Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to exercise a supervision over the state of a signal path by performing transmission with a carrier inserted when a data signal is zero when sending binary data by light. CONSTITUTION:Carrier generator 2 operates with a data signal ''0'' and stops with the signal ''1''. Therefore, OR circuit 3 outputs the data signal or carrier signal. As a result, transistor 4 operates to flow a current to light emission diode 5. After passing through fiber 6, light from light emission diode 5 is converted into an electric signal by photo diode 7. The signal, after being waveform-shaped by comparator 8, is demodulated by monostable multivibrator 9 and then rectified 10 to be extracted as the detection signal of a transmission line. Namely, when neither the data signal nor carrier signal is obtained, the detecion is done regarding it as the abnormality of the transmission line.
