Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the improvement in sensitivity, selectivity and aging characteristics by providing a catalyst layer composed of silica and alumina on the surface of the gas sensitive body of the specific composition containing ZnO, MeO (Me is one of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) and Me2'O3.
CONSTITUTION: The catalyst layer containing 0.01 to 10wt% of the Pt compound comprising adding at least one of Re, Rn at 70atom% of under an additive to silica and alumina is provided on the surface of the gas sensitive body containing 99.85 to 20mole% of ZnO, 0.1 to 50mole% of MeO (where Me is least one of Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) and 0.05 to 30mole% of Me2'O3 (where Me' is at least one of Ga, B, IN, Fe Al, Cr). Thereby, the gas sensitive element which is superior in sensitivity and gas selectivity, is particularly good in responsce characteristics to isobutane gas, and causes less aging upon long-term use may be obtained.
