Abstract
PURPOSE: A flame-retardant resin composition faving improved mechanical, thermal properties, moldability, and flame retardancy, comprising a halogenated bisphenol- type epoxy resin flame-retardant, antimony trioxide, and glass fiber-containing polyethylene terephthalate.
CONSTITUTION: A glass-fiber reinforced polyester resin composition comprising (A) polyethylene terephthalate containing 5W60 wt.% of glass fibers, (B) 3W40 parts by wt., preferably 5W30 parts by wt. based on 100 parts by wt. of the resin of a halogenated bisphenol A-type epoxy resin flame retardant of formula I or II: (X is Cl or Br; l is an average value 0W11; m+n is an average value 0.13W10; the halogen content is ≥10%), and (C) antimony trioxide. Preferably, the glass fibers are 0.4W6 mm long, and the polyester has an (η) of 0.4W1.5 measured by using a solution in a 1:1 mixture of tetrachloroethane and phenol at 25°C. The weight ratio of (B) to (C) is 0.25W6.0, preferably 0.3W4.5.
