Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a new polyurethane elastomer having excellent strength, discoloration resistance for acid and gas, etc., by polymerizing a polymeric diol, aromatic and aliphatic organic diisocyanates and a chain extender, e.g. hydrazine, etc., under specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A linear polymeric diol having a molecular weight of ≥800 is reacted with (B) an aromatic organic diisocyanate and (C) an aliphatic organic diisocyanate optionally having aromatic rings to give a prepolymer having isocyanate groups at both ends, wherein the amount of (B)+(C) is 1.5 mole on the basis of 1 mole of (A). The prepolymer is chain-extended with (D) a low-molecular compound having two amino groups and/or hydroxyl groups, further with (E) hydrazine (derivative) NH2NHR (R is H, alkyl, etc.) to give the desired polyurethane, wherein 30W80% in the carbon atom directly bonded with the nitrogen atom of the ureylene and urethane bond is the nucleus carbon e.g. of benzene, etc., and ≥2% of the ureylene bond is derived from the reaction of (C) with (E).
